If a surgical procedure is required then Linda will discuss the following with you:
- The timing of the procedure.
- Medical insurance (if appropriate).
- Estimate of costs involved.
- Investigations which may be required prior to surgery.
- What happens on the day of surgery
Mark performs all his surgery at Ascot Hospital and on the day of surgery you will be admitted by nursing staff in the pre-admission area on the ground floor of Ascot Hospital. To find out more about Ascot Hospital and your hospital stay - click here to visit the MercyAscot website.
Prior to surgery you will be seen by Graeme Crooks, Mark's Anaesthetist for over 20 years. You will also be seen by a senior member of the theatre staff and the Anaesthetic Technician.
Mark will see you; make sure you have a clear understanding of the surgical procedure and sign your surgical consent form.
After surgery is completed Mark will phone your designated contact person to let them know how the surgery went. Approximately one hour after surgery you will be transferred to the East Wing of Ascot Hospital.
Most women are in Hospital for 2-3 days and Mark will see you twice a day. On discharge from Hospital a blue information sheet is given to you containing post-operative instructions and Mark's contact numbers. Click to view and print the Recovery Guide.
A post-operative appointment is made for you to see Mark two weeks after surgery.
